How to Apply for Challenges

Find challenges that match your skills and submit compelling applications.

1. Find a Challenge

Browse the Challenges page to find challenges that match your skills and interests. Use filters to narrow down the results.

2. Read the Requirements Carefully

Before applying, make sure you fully understand what the challenger is asking for. Pay attention to:

Content type and format requirements
Specific instructions or restrictions
The offered budget
Any time constraints

Only apply for challenges you are confident you can complete. Accepting and then abandoning challenges negatively impacts your reputation.

3. Submit Your Application

Click the Apply button on the challenge detail page. You may include a message explaining why you are a good fit for this challenge.

A complete profile (avatar, banner, bio and at least one portfolio item) makes a strong impression and improves your chances of being accepted.

As soon as you apply, the challenge owner can view your full profile so they can review your work, even if your profile is set to private. This access is limited to the challenge context: it applies only to the owner of that challenge and only while your application is active. If your application is declined or the challenge is closed, the access ends. Other users still cannot see a private profile.

4. Wait for the Owner's Decision

The challenge owner will review your application along with others. You will be notified if your application is accepted or declined.

5. Get Started on the Work

Once accepted, the challenge moves to Assigned status. You can communicate with the owner via the built-in chat and start working on your delivery. Remember that there is a timeout for assigned challenges, so respond and deliver on time.

If You Are Not Selected

If the owner picks another creator, you stay in the running as long as the challenge has not started yet. You could still be chosen if the selected creator drops out. Once work begins, the challenge is taken. You keep an entry for it in your chat list with a short status, but you never see the other creator's chat or work.

If the selected creator declines or runs out of time, you come back into the running and we let you know. The challenge becomes open again and you can be picked.

Declining or Timing Out

As long as the challenge has not started, you can decline an assignment from the chat. If you decline, or if you do not respond within the timeout, your application is removed completely, as if you had never applied. The challenge goes back to open for everyone else, and you can simply apply again later as a fresh first-time application.

Only decline when you really cannot do it. Declining frees the challenge for others, but repeatedly accepting and then dropping out hurts your reputation.
